Book Clubs

Book Clubs let you create shared reading groups where members follow an ordered reading list together. Schedule meetings, run polls, hold discussions, and monitor club health — all in one place.

  1. Go to Clubs from the sidebar or library.
  2. Click New Club.
  3. Enter a club name and optional description.
  4. Your club is created — you are automatically the Owner.

Each club gets a unique invite code that you can share with friends.

  1. Open your club.
  2. Find the Share Invite section.
  3. Copy the invite link or show the QR code so others can scan it.
  4. Anyone with a Bookworm account can join using the link.

Every member has one of three roles:

  • Owner — Full control over the club. Can delete the club, manage admins, add/remove members, regenerate the invite code, create meetings and polls, and manage books.
  • Admin — Can create meetings, polls, and discussions. Can manage club books and view health scores. Cannot delete the club, manage other admins, or regenerate the invite code.
  • Member — Can RSVP to meetings, vote in polls, post discussions, add club books to their library, and update their own reading progress.

Owners can promote any member to Admin (or demote back to Member) from the club settings.

The club owner and admins manage the reading list:

  1. Open the club detail page.
  2. Click Add Book to search and add a book.
  3. Optionally set start and end dates for each book.
  4. Books are displayed in order — the current book (based on today’s date) is highlighted.

As a member, you can add any club book to your personal library:

  1. Tap or click a club book.
  2. If you don’t have the book yet, it’s added with the status Want to Read.
  3. If you already have the book, you can choose to keep your existing progress or start fresh.

Schedule online or in-person meetings for your club.

  1. Go to your club and open the Meetings tab.
  2. Click New Meeting.
  3. Enter a title, date/time, location (or link for online meetings), and optional notes.
  4. Members receive a notification and can RSVP (confirm or decline).

After the meeting, the club owner or an admin marks attendance to record who actually participated. Meeting history is preserved so you can always look back at past gatherings.

Create polls to let members vote on book selections, meeting times, or any club decision.

  1. Open the Polls tab in your club.
  2. Click New Poll.
  3. Enter a question and up to 6 options.
  4. Members cast their votes.
  5. Results are revealed once the poll is closed by the owner or an admin.

Hold forum-style conversations within your club.

  1. Open the Discussions tab.
  2. Click New Post and write your message.
  3. Optionally link the post to a specific club book for context.
  4. Members can comment on posts to keep the conversation going.

The club owner and admins can moderate discussions by deleting posts or comments that don’t follow club guidelines.

Premium club owners can see each member’s reading progress per book:

  • Reading status (Want to Read, Currently Reading, Finished, DNF)
  • Current page and progress percentage

Health Score gives club owners a 0–100 engagement score for each member, calculated across five dimensions:

  • Meeting Attendance — How often the member attends scheduled meetings.
  • Poll Participation — How frequently the member votes in polls.
  • Community Activity — Discussions posted and comments made.
  • Reading Progress — Progress on the current club book.
  • Recency — How recently the member was active.

Each member is classified based on their score:

ScoreClassification
81–100Engaged
61–80Stable
41–60Attention
21–40At Risk
0–20Critical

Premium owners also receive:

  • Automatic alerts when a member drops into the At Risk or Critical range.
  • A daily email digest summarizing members who need attention.
